Rotary Reads in Cherokee County Schools

The school bells are set to ring in a few weeks and the members of the Rotary Club of

Murphy are getting excited to begin this next year with our Rotary Reads Project! Each

club member will select a school to visit and will join that school once per month

beginning in October 2023 through April 2024 to be a volunteer reader for Kindergarten,

First or Second grade students. The Rotary Reads Commitee met during the spring to

select the titles of the books to read to the students and the list has been approved by

the district. Books are being ordered and will be ready for the first visit and members of

the club are completing their volunteer training by the district. Each Rotarian will read to

the assigned class and then donate the book to the classroom teacher for the

classroom library.. This is a fabulous way to support our teachers, schools and

community and to instill a love of reading in each of our students.
