The Rotary Club of Murphy has donated two HP laptop computers to the Educate 4 Success Program, supporting young adults who have aged out of the foster care system. The donation was formally presented to Jeana Conley, Director of Educate 4 Success, who accepted the computers on behalf of the program participants on March 10, 2025 at the Rotary Club Meeting.
The initiative, titled "Bridging the Digital Divide: Chromebooks for Educate 4 Success Students," addresses a critical need for technology access among a vulnerable population that often lacks family support and resources as they transition to independent adulthood.
"There is a tremendous gap in resources for these young adults who have aged out of foster care and no longer receive support or educational services through the county," explained Conley. The Educate 4 Success Program fills this gap by providing housing, educational resources, job training, and essential life skills instruction.
Students enrolled in the program will use these laptops for coursework completion, personal banking, budgeting practice, and job application opportunities—all crucial skills for successful independent living.
The Rotary Club of Murphy, recognizing the need for technology access among program participants, specifically raised funds for the purchase of these computers. This donation represents the club's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in the community and addressing practical needs that can make a significant difference in young people's lives.
"Access to technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity for educational and economic advancement," said Jacqueline Egli, President of the Rotary Club of Murphy. "We're proud to support these former foster youth as they work toward building independent and successful futures."
